Paved, 5,500 ft runway
Incredible vistas
Accommodations for groups
Solitude for all

Take off on a Chihuahuan desert adventure and land in the middle of the biggest state park in Texas on a beautiful 5,500-foot paved airstrip.

Big Bend Ranch State Park Airstrip 3TP takes you far off the beaten path, into the rugged, remote interior of the park near the Saucedo Ranger Station.

A unique destination and adventure

Fly over some of the most spectacular terrain in the country, including the Solitario, 5,135 ft Oso Mountain, the Boficillos volcanic highlands, and the Rio Grande valley. The wide-open vista spreads in all directions, across 300,000 plus acres.

Day trips, lodging, fly-in friendly

Make it a day trip, or spend the night in comfort at the Bunkhouse. There’s plenty of room to host a club fly-in and there are multiple tie-downs adjacent to the landing strip.  There's no charge for using the landing strip.  You can even arrange to have a Ranger from nearby Saucedo meet you at the strip and take you to the Bunkhouse. Its a courtesy, not a shuttle service so use it wisely.

Things you have to know

Call the ranger at (432) 358-4444 before you arrive. Especially if you need to be picked up!

There is no fuel at the air strip. Area airports with fuel include Presidio (PRS), Marfa (MRF) and Alpine (E38).

Check list for a safe flight -- TPWD has lots of details in its Airstrip Guidelines brochure.
